Applicaiton example

For over 33 years, FDK has been manufacturing and selling nickel-metal hydride batteries for various applications such as security, automotive, medical and home appliances, with features such as "usable in a wide temperature range," "rechargeable and reusable," "highly recyclable(*1)," and "highly safe(*2)". Our nickel-metal hydride batteries are widely used as main power sources and power backups in automotive accessory equipment and we offer batteries suited to the conditions of use in the equipment.

In response to the diversification of automotive accessory equipment, FDK has been supplying the following nickel-metal hydride batteries (AA size) in order to meet various requests from customers for batteries that are safe and can be used in a wider range of temperatures and batteries specialized for long life.

- HR-AAUTEW : Mass production started in July 2021.
Expanded operating temperature range from -20 to +85 deg.C to -40 to +85 deg.C.(*3)
- HR-AAUTEWM : Mass production started in June 2022.
Approximately 1.5 times longer life than the standard performance model "HR-AAUTE".(*4)
- HR-AATEZ : Mass production started in April 2024.
Approximately 2 times longer life than the long-life model "HR-AAUTEWM".(*4)

In recent years, the automotive accessory equipment market has seen an increase in demand for discharge under low-temperature environments. In order to meet this need, FDK has newly developed the "HR-AATEX" nickel-metal hydride battery, which features new materials (hydrogen storage alloy, outer can, etc.) and increased battery capacity to further improve low-temperature discharge performance. Compared to the existing model "HR-AAUTEW", the new product has approximately 1.2 times the battery capacity and approximately 6 times the discharge time(*5) at -40 deg.C. This improved discharge performance is expected to enhance convenience for users who use in-vehicle accessory devices in cold regions.

Mass production and shipment of this product will begin in August 2024. By expanding our lineup for automotive accessory applications, we will provide nickel-metal hydride batteries that are suitable for customers' operating environments.

All FDK nickel-metal hydride batteries are made in FDK's Japan domestic factory which is IATF 16949 certified and complies with necessary environmental requirements such as RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive) and EU Battery Regulation (2023/1542).

FDK, as a Smart Energy Partner, will continue to provide customers with proposals for the efficient use of electric energy in a safe and efficient manner by assembling advanced technologies.
