Development of New High Durability Nickel Metal-Hydride Batteries (AA size) for In-Vehicle Applications

FDK CORPORATION (Tokyo Stock Exchange 2nd Section: Code 6955) has added the "HR-AAUTEWM" nickel metal-hydride battery to its product lineup and will start mass production and shipment from June 2022.

<Application example>

For 31 years, FDK has been manufacturing and selling rechargeable nickel metal-hydride batteries for a variety of applications, including security, medical and in-vehicle applications. In recent years, there has been a growing need for wide temperature range usage in in-vehicle applications that require main power supply or power backup operation.

To meet these needs, in July 2021, FDK released "HR-AAUTEW" with a specialized discharge temperature performance.
In an alternate trend, requirements for specialized long-life performance have increased. To provide an optimized solution, FDK has thoroughly reviewed the materials used in existing nickel metal-hydride batteries and successfully developed the "HR-AAUTEWM" high durability nickel metal-hydride battery. The optimized chemistry increases life-time performance by approximately 50% compared to the baseline performance model "HR-AAUTE".(*1) The longer life of the battery reduces the frequency of battery replacements and increases convenience for customers.
"HR-AAUTEWM" will be released from June 2022. FDK provides optimum nickel-metal hydride batteries for customer usage conditions with our enhanced product line-up.

All FDK Ni-MH batteries are made in FDK's Japan domestic factory which is IATF 16949 certified and comply with environmental requirements such as RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive) and the Battery Directive (2006/66/EC).

FDK, as a Smart Energy Partner, will continue to provide customers with proposals for the efficient use of electric energy in a safe and efficient manner by assembling advanced technologies.
