FDK Developed Two Models of Micro DC-DC Converters !

FDK Corporation newly developed two micro DC-DC converter models for compact electronics apparatus such as cellular phones. GM003 model is the world first micro DC-DC converter which can be used for parallel operation and GM006 model is a down-sized and improved model of conventional GM001 model.

Small electric devices such as cellular phones and digital cameras tend to have high performance CPUs recently to secure high processing ability for realizing high performance and high efficiency. Since those CPUs require high current, electric devices tend to adopt highly efficient DC-DC converters.

Although our conventional GM converter models could not provide satisfactory power to operate CPUs in recent digital appliances, a GM003 model, which correspond to parallel operation, realizes the high efficiency of power conversion. It contributes to space-saving for an appliance and increases the efficiency of power consumption. Thus, it is no longer required to use large-sized conductors for those digital appliances.

GM006 model corresponds to the wider range use of the input and output voltages. It also realizes to keep efficiency from light load and to reduce 27% in height as compared to the conventional GM001 model. As the output voltage in both models can be arbitrarily set by external resistance values or outside signals, both models are able to use for multipurpose.
FDK will continuously develop new products to respond customer needs with our frontier technologies. Mass production of these two models will be started in coming September.
