For 30 years, FDK has been manufacturing and selling rechargeable nickel metal-hydride batteries for a variety of applications, including security, automotive and medical. In recent years, there has been a growing needs for longer battery life in security and other applications that require power backup operation in the event of a power failure. In order to meet these needs, FDK has thoroughly reviewed the materials and structure of existing nickel metal-hydride batteries. FDK successfully developed the nickel metal-hydride battery “HR-AAAUTU” which conforms to the JIS C 8708 MU standard and achieves the industry's highest level of longer life(*2). The longer life of the battery reduces the frequency of battery replacements and increases convenience for customers. Samples of this product were already available from November 2020, and mass production will begin in January 2021 as part of the product lineup of high durability nickel metal-hydride batteries.
