| Multilayer Low Pass Filter "AMF1005L series" |

FDK Corporation developed the world's most compact multilayer low pass
filter "AMF1005L series" for GSM mobile phones.
GSM System is the most popular standard for mobile phones, whose service
is now available in more than 160 countries. GSM Standard operates in various
frequencies, which includes following three types: GSM900 operating in
800MHz, GSM1800 operating in 1800MHz, and GSM1900 operating in 1900MHz.
Mobile phones become rapidly multifunctional and sophisticated recently.
Thus, GSM mobile phones are required of downsizing and sophisticating and
it rapidly emerges GSM dual band(GSM900&GSM1800) and triple band mobile
phones.
To suppress high frequency noise from mobile phones, it has been mostly used to construct a low pass filter circuit, though there are some low pass filters. And it has been looking for high performance compact low pass filters in lower prices.
AMF1005L series is only 1.0x0.5x0.3mm in size, which is the world's most
compact multilayer low pass filter. It is realized by the development of
a new material called alumina ceramic, the optimization of multilayer patterns,
low temperature sintering technology and our technical know-how on high
frequency multilayer chip inductors.
Compared to the above mentioned conventional mobile phones having a low pass filter circuit, the use of AMF1005L is about one-sixth of the number of devices mounted, and made it possible to simplify a circuit design, save a circuit space and cost.
Furthermore, these new products comply with RoHS Directive, which will be enforced throughout EU in July 2006.
FDK will display AMF1005L series at the CEATEC Japan 2005, which will be held from October 4 to 8 at the Makuhari Messe. Sample shipments will begin in October.
